Mardin

Hello and welcome to my presentation about Mardin.
Mardin is a city in Turkey. There live 140.000 people. I start with my flight to Mardin, we take off in Strassburg and flew to Istanbul. There we had a stay of one hour and then we flew to Diyarbakir. Then at the airport we have waited for our luggage, however it wasn`t there. So we asked an employee he said that our luggage was still in Istanbul. So we have waited two hours for our lugagge but it was very stressful because my younger sister cried all the time. After two hours with the taxi we finally arrived in Mardin. Our cousins have welcomed us very nice with music and ballons. It was like a birthday party. My grandma was so happy to see us. After I greeted everybody I went to sleep. We lived in the house of my aunt. My aunt have a house with two floors. My family and I lived in the first floor. They had garden with apples and grapes. In the east of Turkey it is normal to sleep on the roof. You definitely think that it is immposseble to sleep on the roof. But the most roofs in the east of Turkey aren`t normal they are flat. Mardin is not like Istanbul or Berlin there are no big houses or factory`s. The life is very simple there. When I was in the town I noticed that there are many old people. I think the young people go away because there aren`t many jobs. I always eaten in that restaurant it tasted so good there and it was next to this mosqe. There are many Mosqe in Mardin. The city is know for his many christians. They live in a disstrict of Mardin. When I was in this district I saw beatiful old houses with crosses on the door. Not only christians live in this district, muslims live also there. The sight in Mardin is this castle. Today the castle is a hotel and many people celebrated there wedding in the castle. When I was there I wasn`t allowed to go in the castle because somebody celebrate his wedding there. Some films were also produced there like slaa.
Before we went home I went to this schwimming pool with my brother. It was very nice because it was almost empty there. My brother had that slides for himself while I was schwimming. At the last day we said goodbye to everyone and my cousin drive us to the airport. But we nearly missed our flight because my mother talked very much to my aunt and grandma. After 3 hours we landed in Germany.

  • Hello and welcome to my presentation about Mardin.
  • Mardin is a city in Turkey.
  • There live 140.000 people.
  • I start with my flight to Mardin; we took off in Strassburg and flew to Istanbul.
  • There we had a stay of one hour and then we flew to Diyarbakir.
  • (Then) At the airport we have waited for our luggage,
    however it wasn’t there.
  • So we asked an employee he said that our luggage was still in Istanbul.
  • (So) That’s why we have waited two hours for our luggage (but) which was very stressful because my younger sister cried all the time. (so – so: Wiederholungen vermeiden!)
  • After two hours with the taxi ride we finally arrived in Mardin.
  • Our cousins (have) welcomed us very nice with music and balloons.
  • It was like a birthday party.
  • My grandma was so happy to see us.
  • After I had said hello to everybody I went to sleep.
  • We lived in the house of my aunt. My aunt has a house with two floors. (my aunt = 3. Person Singular von have = has)
  • My family and I lived in the first floor. They have a garden with apples and grapes. In the east of Turkey it is normal to sleep on the roof. You definitely think that it is impossible to sleep on the roof. But the most roofs in the east of Turkey aren’t normal, they are flat.
  • Mardin is not like Istanbul or Berlin, there are no big houses or factories. (Wörter, die nach einem Konsonanten auf y enden, werden in der Mehrzahl zu –ies: family-families; city-cities; lady-ladies; aber : y nach Vokal : das -y bleibt, es wird -s angehängt: boy-boys, day-days)
  • The life is very simple there. When I was in the town I noticed that there are many old people. I think the young people go away because there aren’t many jobs. I always ate in that restaurant.
  • It tasted so good there and it was next to this mosque.
  • There are many mosques in Mardin.
  • The city is known for its many Christians. (religiöse Bezeichnungen werden großgeschrieben).
  • They live in a district of Mardin. When I was in this district I saw beautiful old houses with crosses on the door. Not only Christians live in this district, Muslims, too.
  • A place of interest in Mardin is its castle. Today the castle is a hotel where many people celebrate their wedding (ihre Hochzeit)..
  • When I was there I wasn’t allowed to go into the castle because somebody celebrated his wedding there.
  • Some films were also produced there like slaa (wie heißt der Film?).
  • Before we returned home I went to this swimming pool (ein besonderes Schwimmbad, weil Du “this” schreibst) with my brother. It was very nice because it was almost empty there. My brother had those water slides on his own (für sich alleine) while I was swimming. At the last day we said goodbye to everyone and my cousin drove us to the airport. But we almost missed our flight because my mother talked very much to my aunt and grandma. After 3 hours we landed in Germany.
