How it works Work and Travel You do little Jobs like: Fruit Picking, Working on a farm.And travel around the world. You can do this job for 3 weeks an then you can travel further to the next City or Country. You finance your Work and Traveltrip by yourself.  And you have to plan about 200 € for accommodation and food. You can explore any country of your choice. You need this visa card when you want to travel Work and Travel should be carefully organized andplanned.   

Where can Ido Work & Travel?   You can do Work and Travel in almost every country.And the job that you do must be available. You also get a Holiday-visa card when you have a German nationality and are 18 years old.   Most Popular countries are : Japan , New Zealand , Canada, Australia and Singapore.
   How much doesWork and Travel costs? About 1000 € 

   Next is Volunteering: 
What is Volunteering? You can support aid projects around the world. Theseinclude projects in the areas of education and teaching projects, and healthcare or animal welfare projects.   

What shouldyou do as a volunteer worker?  You work with children and youth in orphanagesor participate in projects for street children, the employees in an Africanhospital ward or support of animals and nature projects in Latin America. You teach children, serve in soup kitchens, save seaturtles. You can also work in the field of psychology.   

Requirementsfor volunteering : You must be at least 18 years old. (In Canada,19th).You should have the following characteristics: curiosity, tolerance,adaptation and teamwork.   


How long takes volunteering?   There are short programs for 2 weeks and long programs for 6 to 12 weeks.     

Next is AuPair : 
What is Au-Pair and what I have to do there? You support a host family abroad with childcare andchores. In return, you get free food and pocket money. These include forexample, washing children`s clothes, prepare lunch, dishwashing. But a yearabroad as an Au Pair is also to discover languages and cultures of your hostcountry. Some host parents also expect from their Au Pairs also to bring theguest children their native language near. 

   Daily routineas an Au Pair:   Mostly, your host parents tell you what you have todo. Tasks that are available almost everywhere on the agenda, for example: To wake up the Children in the morning , make breakfast, bring the children toschool and create with the children there free time.    

Au Paircountries :   As an Au Pair you can travel everywhere, because host families are available in many countries worldwide. The most popular au paircountries are United States,Britain, Canada, Australia, West and North Europeancountries. In Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa,it is difficult to find an au pair place.   

Requirementsfor a job as an au pair:   You must be at least 18 years old. (In Canada,19th). You must have basic knowledge in the language. Often you have to speakEnglish very well.   

What does it cost me a year abroad as an Au Pair? Approx. 100- 200 € Agency fees for the agency. Youalso need to pay for the language courses . The amount is 500 €. Special case of USA: The hostparents take over departure and return cost. They also pay the cost for the language course. 

   After switching to a host family, you pay the program price:  Watch euro for au pairs who have over 200 hours ofsmall child care (children aged 3 to 24 months), are at least 19 years old andready to children under 2 years - 650,  750, - € for au pairs who do not have small childrencare experience 

   Now I want to Tell you some thing about A Work Placement:   a temporary job that is intended to give a traineeexperience of the job they are training for Doing a work placement is a great way to impressfuture employers and gives you excellent first-hand experience of the working world.Doing a work placement is a huge boost to your self-confidence and your CV.More and more employers are looking for experience . A work placement offersyou the chance to gain valuable experience spending time working for anemployer. Work placements are useful at any point during you education and the more you undertake the more skills you will acquire and themore impressive your CV will look to a prospective employer. They are great opportunities to speak directly topeople who are already doing the job within their working environment. Their insider information on the job will give you a greater understanding of what itentails. Though the placements are usually unpaid, travel and food expenses aresometimes covered But you have to apply for A Work Placement Work placements are usually voluntary and as such areunpaid.  

  How can I find a Work Placement? You can find it on some websites***(muss ich noch suchen). But you have to do find a Work experience Placement by yourself. There many Companies on training fairs . 
   
   How to apply for work placements    Most large organisations will have a set application process for work placements or internships, and can be easily found by researching the company online. When you apply, make sure that you give the same amount of time and attention as you would do to any normal job application.

Some companies will have an onlineapplication form for you to fill out. If this is the case, 
make sure you readthe questions carefully as sometimes these are designed to make you slip up. Behonest about why you want to work there, and do your research on the companyand what they do. If you get an opportunity to suggest things they could dobetter, don’t feel like you can’t say anything, but equally don’t ripe verything they do apart. Remember, if you get the work experience this could lead to a job so you want to really sell yourself. 

Or apply directly on your own Employers and people who take on workexperience love it when people show initiative. A great way of applying forwork experience is to find out who organises work experience from theirwebsite, and ring them up to ask if they have any spaces left. If you can’t find who to speak to straight away, call the switchboard, introduce yourselfand ask who is best to contact to organise work experience.
