Hallo

Ireland, situated in the western edge of Europe, was in his history over and over again the aim of conquests and destructions. The Englishmen did not get to suppress the Irish will after independence during her centuries of rule. The time of the independence of Ireland is short. The island is independent since 1921 up to Northern Ireland. Member of the European Community is Ireland since 1973.

•The island republic Ireland takes a surface of a little bit more than 70,000 square kilometers. Lain in the northwest of Europe, she borders in the north and north-east on Northern Ireland. Four million people live in Ireland. Still eight million people were it 150 years ago.

•The first inhabitants reached the island presumably about 10,000 B.C. These people Tuatha de Danaan and Firbolgs are called. Later followed Celtic immigrants from Northern France. From several ruling areas tare (county Meath) was the approved capital.

•The first conquerors of Ireland were not the Romans. Only after the 7th century it came for raids by the Vikings. Viking`s explanations are towns like Dublin, limerick and Waterford.

•The Englishmen come in the form of the king Heinrich II about 1171/72 by force on the island. From Ireland became a lordship. Uprisings of the Irishmen at later times B love in spite of Spanish support without success.

•After the battle lost for the Irishmen of Boyne in 1690 Protestants removed all Catholic landowners. The English aristocracy reached which might remit the parliament of Ireland from 1782/83 own laws.

Big famines and land wars in Ireland

•Ireland was the centre of famines over and over again. So also in the time of the potato decay from 1845 to 1850. Two million Irishmen die. More than 1.5 millions emigrated in the new world.

•In the years from 1879 to 1882 it came to land wars. The Irish tenants were on strike against the big landowners. One was called of it boycott.

Few years of the rest from 1900, then uprising, finally, the independence.

•Around the turn of the century one succeeded with land reforms Ireland in calming. 1911 brought mass demonstrations with demands for freedom and independency. Besides, the Catholics wanted the independence, the Protestants demanded no separation of Ireland of the motherland.

•In demonstrations there did not remain. There was based only Protestant paramilitary militia and shortly after Catholic counterorganizations.

•The Easter uprising of radical Catholics in 1916 in Dublin was knocked down. A later civil war ended on the 9th of July, 1921 than the party founded in 1918 Sinn Fein and the British government on an armistice agreed. Since the 6th of December, 1921 Ireland is independent.
Also in the present Ireland further writes in his history. It goes up and down as the business development proves after 2000.

Also: bei Fremdsprachen- bzw.
